Beijing, China- According to Reuters, Chinese Communist Party will delay its 18th National Congress until winter. “As the party struggles to finalize a once-in-a-decade leadership change”.
There is not much doubt of the two senior post of president and premier. However, those remaining positions in politburo is considered a great impact on Xi Jinping, incoming new president of China.
The delay will also affect global financial markets as Chinese politics has been busy dealing with scandals around Bo Xilai, former Chongqing Party secretary and a murder involved his wife Gu Kailai.
Chinese political scientist Liu Junning comment on the delay, “It’s like dinner being put off because cooking was abruptly disrupted and (the party) had to attend to other matters. Now it’s back to cooking.” Liu said that the party needed some time to handle Bo’s fellout and find another strong candidate for the politburo.
And the State Council Information Office declined to comment on the case.
