Gansu, China – According to Radio Free Asian (RFA), another young Tibetan men died from self-immolation to protest against Chinese government on January 12.
Tsering Dhondup, 22, set himself on fire around noon on Saturday in Xiahe County, Gansu Province. After the incident, his body was returned home. Monks gathered at his house prayed and held a small ceremony. Local authorities has cut telecommunications in the area, and the news was blocked immediately.
Dhondup is believed to be the first case of self-immolation in 2013, and there are 97 Tibetans set themselves on fire since 2009 in mainland China. FMN
