Zhengzhou, China – A customer found some maggots floating on top of the hot water when washing the ribs he purchased from local Shuanghui store. Shuanghui, one of the largest meat food processing company, denied on the poor quality of its meat.

The sales person said it is normal to find some maggots in ribs, and some people were dedicated to eat it. The regional manager of Shuanghui in Zhengzhou later responded that every piece of ribs would appear to have some maggots when contact with hot water. The staff member also suggested to send the meat to local Bureau of Quality Supervision if there was an objection.

However, in a later experiment on site, there was no maggot on any of the ribs in store, and the manager changed his statement to “some may have, and some not.” In the picture, there are 8 maggots on the plastic bags of Shuanghui.

According to Shuanghui public relations, they didn’t find any maggots on ribs that sold in store. For the compensation demand from the customer, they cannot further process it without a profession detection. Shuanghui didn’t contact the customer after the incident till now.

Guiyang, China – Hundreds of people gathered in Renmin Square in Guiyang to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of The Tiananmen Protest on June 4th,1989.

On May 29, 2012, a memorial protest of “June 4th” was launched in Renmin Square with over a hundred people participated, some held placards said “Long live democracy”, “Long live the People”, “Struck down the ‘dictatorship’”.

The initiator Mi Songbiao said that the activity was spontaneously, not sponsored by any organizations. It is to remind the government to fulfill its promise of human rights and freedom. He admitted that the public had not chance to know the truth about The Tiananmen Square Protest, children receive patriotic education toward the Communist party since little. Many history facts were kept in dark.

In addition, the protest demanded to stop political persecution and the release of Chen Xi, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for “Inciting subversion of state power.” The activity lasted for 2 hours and no government officials or police to interfere.

Mr. Mi, 73 years old, recalled himself listening to the radio and knew that students in Beijing mourn over Hu Yaobang’s death in 1989. Deeply moved by the democratic salvation from students, he arrived in Beijing on May 29, 1989. Mi has long recognized the serious situation, but students believed that Chinese government would not use force against its own people at that time. He witnessed many students with gunshot wounds on June 4th, and left Beijing that afternoon. For the past 23 years, Mi has been passing handouts and petitioning publicly for “The June 4th” protest. And he was force to go on a trip each year around June 4th. He planned the activity a bit early this year.

Mr. Mi put up a banner of Universal Declaration of Human Rights last year , but ended up with beaten by local police and under a house arrest. FMN

Zhejiang, China – According to local publicity department, on May 28, 2012, the crowds gathered on the street protesting in front of government office compound in Xianjiang, Rui’an. Window glasses and some automobiles are damaged during the incident.

In the evening of May 12th, a migrant worker Yang Zhi (male, 20) was in a dispute with his manager Xu Qiyin (male, 39) due to salary settlement. And Yang was injured on his head.

Xu Qiyan turned himself in on May 14th, and was under detention. Yang, the victim, died in hospital on May 26th. As Yang’s family disagree with his injury compensation, the local office decided to continue the discussion the next day.

On May 28th, the family of Yang and his fellows about 200 people gathered on front of local government building demanding to punish the murder. Some of them broke in to the building, throwing stones at glasses, causing a chaotic mess.

Hangzhou, China – A undercover journalist recently exposed an illegal distribution agency of human kidneys. From May 14th to 28th, he posed as a kidney seller and stayed with an agency called “Kidney base of Hangzhou” where he witnessed the process to human organ trafficking.

In China, the kidney selling network has been running like a pipeline with high-efficiency. The unified pricing of a kidney in the black market was around 35,000 yuan (about USD $5515).

The whole process begins when the donors arrive at the train station. They will be sent to a lodging to complete a series of medical checks, blood tests, and then sign the agreement. Qualified donors will be “shipped” to another location and waiting for operations. Cell phones will be taken away, and personal freedom are restricted in case anybody changed their mind.

The donors are often reluctant to mention why do they come to sell their kidney. It is all covered by silence, cigarettes or frolics. One of them said ” I used to think selling one’s own kidney is a terrifying thing to do, haven’t thought about me now being one of them.”

In China, illegal organ trade spread to a vast underground network nationwide. On May 26, 2012, two donors left Hangzhou, one to Kunming, the other is sent to Guangzhou. For many people, selling their kidney is like a lifesaving straw, but it is a way one cannot turn back for others. FMN

New York, U.S. – Chinese blind activist Chen Guangcheng interviewed with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Thursday (May 24, 2012) morning in New York. He talked about his escape from Dongshigu village and the current situation of his nephew Chen Kegui, who is accused of murder when defending himself against the local thugs.

During the interview, Chen mentioned that he felt returning to freedom. He said “I haven’t been able to feel the nature for a long time, on that day I had some time to soak in the sun and feel the breeze. I just felt I hadn’t been able to do that in so long. I have missed out for too long.”

When asked why he chose to fight against Chinese government, Chen said “It is human nature. I think trying to stop the evil and to embrace the benevolence is human instinct.”

Chen prefer to use the term “illegal detention” instead of “house arrest” when asked to describe his life after he was released from prison. He said it was hard to describe and his suffering was beyond imagination.

Chen confirmed the periodically beat toward his wife and him and would not give any details as it was an unpleasant memory. Many of Chen’s friends was under retribution after Chen and his family left China. Guo Yushan, who helped Chen after his escape from Shandong, is now actively monitored by Chinese National Security.

Chen Guangcheng said his nephew Chen Kegui is unlikely to be treated fairly by local Linyi government. His case should be taken by a court outside Shandong province. He believes the fact is clear in the case, but the key is whether the legal authority will act in accordance with the facts and laws.
